For today’s podcast, Blue Collar Songwriting begins the first of many interviews with folks who actually build instruments. That being said, we’re very pleased to kick this off with a recent chat with luthier Matt Martin. Matt is the owner and builder of Root Custom Guitars. Later in the year, he’ll be changing the name to Root Guitar Works, complete with a better web presence but the same refined instruments.

Though his guitars reach a level of high art in sound and look that is truly captivating, as a person Matt lacks any pretense whatsoever. For instance, this is the only picture of him on Root’s website:
