Well, it’s been a year and a half since this humble podcast started. We’ve featured singer-songwriters representing a variety of genres. Some have been world renowned artists, some have been up-and-comers, and others have been barely known but no less important.
There’s been a bit of a lapse since our last interview. Much of this has been due to boring work related issues. It can also be difficult to get interviews. Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes all requests get either a rejection or simply no attention. Oh well.
While I’m proud of the podcast, it could use a bit more focus. Look for some exciting changes to come. There will be more focus on artists who play at alternative venues, such as house shows, all age venues, and listening rooms. We certainly won’t ignore other venues. But the focus will be on these alternative ones.
There will also be a decent amount of focus on artists who are (whether by choice or by necessity) DIY in their approach to songwriting, performance, and business. DIY is very much a buzzword. But hopefully this podcast can play a small part in highlight exactly what that label means.
Finally, there will be considerable focus given to One Person Bands. Without stealing any attention from the artists featured, I’m a part of this particular musical community. It is large but, unfortunately, not publicized enough. The goal is to have weekly podcasts. Every other one will be a One Person Band of sorts.
That being said, keep listening. If you have any ideas, please send them to soundsgoodjs@gmail.com.
