Seth Bernard is a Michigan-based musician who has been writing, performing, and recording songs for some time now. He and his wife May Erlewine have built up a large, loyal following across the country. Along with their releases as a duet, Seth & May have released their own respective solo albums. Along with many other musical friends, they helped form Earthwork Music. As the official website states, “The Earthwork Music collective believes in the intrinsic and historical power of music to raise both community and self-awareness and serves to facilitate and encourage original music in the state of Michigan and beyond.”
Blue Collar Songwriting recently chatted with Seth about his musical career, values, and his latest album titled Reconciliation & the Mystical Beyonda. This album is as clever and creative as the album’s title. It should also win some sort of award for its odd-but-intriguing song titles (“Turkeys in the Rain,” “Bluetooth Pillow,” and “Fire Pig” are just a few examples.) The whole effort is a big step forward for the Michigan-based troubadour, though not without that sort of home-spun coziness that Seth and his Earthworks colleagues have built a reputation on. It will be released on Wednesday, May 21st. You can get it here.
